The verdict on whether the case filed by the Attorney General against former Minister Basil Rajapaksa over misappropriating state funds to purchase a plot of land and build a luxurious home in Malwana, Dompe will be continued will be announced tomorrow (13).
When the case was taken up for consideration on the 25th of March, the first witness testified that a complaint was not lodged with the Financial Crimes Investigation Division and that the signature on the statement cannot be accepted.
The judges had accordingly informed Court that evidence will not be heard in the case against Basil Rajapaksa based on the witness’s testimony.
Accordingly, the case was postponed to the 13th of May while a verdict is expected on the continuation of the case tomorrow.
Rajapaksa was served three indictments by the Attorney General over the case.
