The prices of vegetables in a majority of economic centres across the island have come down today.
The prices had increased steeply across the country a few days ago.
Accordingly, the prices of all vegetables, especially those from the upcountry, have reduced to between Rs.150 and Rs.250.
They were priced between Rs.250 and Rs.400 over the past few days.
Meanwhile, NewsRadio area correspondent said the price of a kilogram of green chillies at the Dambulla Economic Centre is between Rs.300 and Rs.400 today while the price of a kilogram of capsicum is between Rs.350 and Rs.400.
He said there was also a reduction in the number of traders arriving at the Dambulla Economic Centre today.
Our correspondent said the number of people arriving at economic centres has also reduced, and therefore prices of vegetables dropped, due to the low demand.
