Samagi Jana Balawegaya Parliamentarian Nalin Bandara says the President in his address to the nation yesterday attempted to claim that the vaccination drive was successful.
MP Bandara speaking at a media briefing however said it has not been a success as vaccinating individuals above the age of 60 was not prioritised and a 32 percent gap between the first jab and the second jab.
The Parliamentarian said other countries are at a limit of 10, 12 and 15 adding it is a prime example of the country lacking a scientific vaccination programme.
He commended the President’s statement on fully vaccinating all citizens above the age of 30 by the 10th of September.
MP Bandara said eight million more vaccines are required to complete the vaccination drive adding steps must be taken to expedite the procurement process.
