President Gotabaya Rajapaksa says steps will be taken to provide relief to low-income earners regardless of the economic reforms.
The President made this statement during a discussion with the United States Ambassador to Sri Lanka Julie Chung at the Presidential Secretariat this morning.
President Rajapaksa said he is hopeful of US support when seeking assistance from the International Monetary Fund.
Issuing a statement, the President’s Media Division said Ambassador Chung commended the government’s decision to seek IMF assistance adding it was important for Sri Lanka in the long run.
The US Ambassador also said the US Agency for International Development (USAID) will provide credit facilities for renewable energy projects.
The Head of State also educated Ambassador Julie Chung on the reasons that led to the collapse of the Sri Lankan economy.
