Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera says 95 octane petrol will be released to fuel stations across the country from today.
Minister Wijesekera noted that two fuel cargo vessels have been unloaded and the country now has 95 octane petrol stocks needed for the next six weeks.
The Energy Minister therefore requested those using 95 octane petrol not to stay in lines for 92 octane petrol and instead obtain 95 octane petrol stocks, from tomorrow.
Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera has requested the general public not to purchase petroleum products from third parties.
The Minister said in a statement that investigations have revealed that certain individuals are engaged in collecting fuel, contaminating petroleum products with other liquids to sell at higher rates.
Minister Kanchana Wijesekera requested the public not to encourage such businesses and to report them to authorities.
