The Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association says it expects bus services to return to normalcy today.
Speaking to NewsRadio, President of the Association Gemunu Wijeratne noted that yesterday he instructed bus operators to pump necessary fuel after assurances were given by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation that stocks of diesel have been released to the market.
He said since a fuel shipment was due to arrive in the country today, the CPC informed him that at least one fuel bowser will be dispatched to every filling station in the country.
Gemunu Wijeratne said on that basis, bus operators have decided to resume operations.
He noted that they have a duty to transport children to school and help the country to return to some normalcy after a difficult period.
Gemunu Wijeratne accordingly assured to operate buses at full capacity despite facing various difficulties.
