Upcountry railway transportation has been hampered owing to the inclement weather over most parts of the country.
NewsRadio correspondents said earth slips, tree and rock falls have been reported along railway lines in several parts of the Central Province.
A Badulla bound Colombo train that commenced journey this morning is stationed between the Nawalapitiya and Hatton Railway Stations due to earth slips on the railway tracks.
Due to earth slips along roads, commuters in trains could not be moved to buses of the Sri Lanka Transport Board either.
As a result, Sri Lanka Railways cancelled two night mail trains bound to and from Colombo to Badulla today.
