Trade unionist Ananda Palitha says the public is outraged at the government, who continue to impose restrictions on the public, and have failed to take steps to rectify fuel supply chains.
Ananda Palitha was responding to a statement made by Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera, who said fuel will not be supplied to fuel stations where violence is reported.
Speaking to NewsRadio Palitha said Ministers claimed there were sufficient volumes of fuel in stock, as most Ministers use diesel. He said it was not the public’s fault that the economy is falling apart.
Palitha added the public is protesting as they have to put their lives at risk to obtain fuel.
He said protests would gradually reduce if the country received adequate stocks of fuel on a daily basis.
