The National Trade Union Centre says trade union action will be initiated from January if government attention is not directed to their grievances during the Budget debate pertaining to issues faced by state sector workers.
The Centre said members are hopeful that solutions will be provided to a number of issues, including salary anomalies, and pension issues.
Speaking at a media briefing yesterday, a member of the Centre KD Lal Kantha said they remain hopeful of amendments to the Budget.
He said they expect a Rs.10,000 salary increase as a result of the rise in the cost of living.
Lal Kantha said they will resort to large scale protests from January if demands are not met through the Budget.
