The Academy of Health Professionals claims sourcing more than 140 medicines has become a difficult task owing to the medicine shortage in the country.
President of the Academy Ravi Kumudesh revealed of a shortage of several drugs that are used to treat cancer patients.
He said they warned the Ministry of Health of an impending medicine shortage several months prior, adding that the Ministry refuted their claims as false narratives.
Kumudesh said certain Ministry officials called for investigations against them for revealing the crisis, adding that the Secretary of Health did not have any inclination regarding a possible shortage.
Today, Kumudesh said, matters they revealed six months ago are becoming a reality.
He said the Apeksha Hospital lacks four essential medicines which will drop to 10 types in a week.
Kumudesh stated that an individual undergoing chemotherapy through the years would all be in vain, if one drug that is due to be taken, is missed.
He added there is no control price on medicine either at present as the demand for medicine has increased significantly.
