State and private sector trade unions have organised a national protest day today.
Accordingly, trade unions claim that several protests will be held across the island.
The national protest day is being staged demanding a Rs.10,000 salary increment through the 2022 Budget for both the state and private sector, a solution to teacher and principal salary anomalies, rise in cost of living, the sale of national assets to foreign entities, and several other demands.
Deputy Chairman of the National Trade Union Centre Chandana Sooriyarachchi said they are also protesting issues that have arisen in all other sectors and the lack of response by responsible officials.
