The Joint Development Officers’ Centre and the Joint Trainees’ Union have handed over a letter to the Ministerial Committee appointed to confirm appointments of trainees.
The letter cites a number of requests, including the confirmation of all trainee graduates with effect from the 03rd of September.
Speaking to media, Secretary of the Joint Development Officers’ Centre Dhammika Munasinghe said as a collective they are engaged in a struggle for confirmations.
He said the training period of graduates ended on the 02nd of September adding the government submitted a letter to the Cabinet on the 13th of September calling for the postponement of the training for six months.
He added the Cabinet reached a decision to confirm the appointments within two to three months.
Munasinghe said a Committee was formed comprising Ministers Vasudeva Nanayakkara, Janaka Bandara Thennakoon and Dinesh Gunawardena.
He said they requested a meeting with the Committee on the 15th of September to discuss a process to expedite the confirmation of trainee graduates.
