Officials in the power sector have claimed that they will ensure an uninterrupted power supply from Saturday.
Meanwhile, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has also instructed all responsible parties to take steps to provide an uninterrupted power supply.
The President made this observation during a special discussion held at the Presidential Secretariat this afternoon pertaining to power cuts and the fuel crisis.
Following lengthy discussions with officials of the Ministries of Power and Energy, a decision has been taken to continue importing fuel without delay, maintaining reserves and supplying fuel and coal for power generation.
During the discussion, officials have informed the President that power cuts will not be imposed from 5th of March.
Meanwhile, officials have urged the general public to refrain from hoarding fuel out of fear, as the distribution of fuel to all filling stations will resume as usual, from tomorrow.
Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Power Minister Gamini Lokuge, Minister of Energy Udaya Gammanpila, the Governor of the Central Bank, the Secretary to the President and the Chief Adviser to the President were also present at the discussion.
