The Allied Health Sciences Faculty Students’ Union of the University of Peradeniya says a stringent policy is required to recruit allied health graduates annually to the public service.
President Madushan Chandrajith speaking at a protest at the Peradeniya University yesterday called for an immediate end to the sale of degrees from institutions such as the Kotelawala Defence University.
He said degree holders are without employment in the state sector for close to two to three years as a result of this development.
Chandrajith charged that students at the KDU are able to obtain employment promptly as they pay for their degrees.
Chandrajith said the purpose of free education is being tarnished.
