Considering the recent economic and food supply issues in Sri Lanka, a group of Agriculture Professors from three Universities have prepared a proposal for future agricultural development and food security.
Accordingly, a group of 10 professors representing the University of Peradeniya, the University of Ruhuna and the University of Sri Jayewardenepura were part of the team that compiled the list of proposals.
The proposals were formulated targeting the promotion of agricultural activities and food security under three categories in the short-term, medium-term and long-term.
Speaking at the event, the professors stressed on the importance of immediately implementing proposals if Sri Lanka is to overcome the food crisis that it may face in future.
