UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet says Sri Lanka has not yet come up with a credible roadmap for accountability and reconciliation.
Addressing the 49th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, she said amendments to the Prevention of Terrorism Act and the release of detainees were acceptable, but added that Sri Lanka needed a series of full legal and security reforms.
While presenting a written report on the interactive dialogue on Sri Lanka, she said Sri Lanka’s commitment to the accountability process over the past year has not been sufficient.
It was also mentioned that there were problems regarding the activities of independent commissions.
Michelle Bachelet also stressed the need for justice for the victims of the Easter Sunday attacks.
