The United Nations has commended Sri Lanka’s green agriculture programme.
UN Assistant Secretary-General Kanni Wignaraja today called on President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the Presidential Secretariat.
The President’s Media Division said Wignaraja commended Sri Lanka’s rise by seven places in the 2021 Sustainable Development Report in comparison to last year.
Sri Lanka is ranked 87th among 165 countries.
The PMD said the potential for further development of the green agriculture programme to attract foreign investors was also highlighted.
The President meanwhile briefed the Assistant Secretary-General on steps being taken by Sri Lanka to meet Sustainable Development Goals while seeking solutions to the socio-economic impacts caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
