Police have arrested two Nigerian Nationals from Dehiwala over charges of financial scamming through the Internet.
Police revealed that the duo had sent WhatsApp messages to accounts of Sri Lankan women claiming that they have won a prize and therefore requesting them to deposit an initial amount to claim it.
Police Media Spokesman Senior Superintendent of Police Nihal Thalduwa said the cybercrimes division conducted an investigation into a complaint lodged with the police.
Accordignly, Police arrested two Nigerian Nationals aged 53 and 30 for attempting to scam Sri Lankans by promising various prizes.
The duo were produced in court today and was remanded until the 24th of September.
Police requested the public to be aware and not get tricked by these scams.
