The Sri Lanka Police say 12 Parliamentarians have recorded statements regarding the unrest that took place on the 9th of across the island.
Police Media Spokesman Senior Superintendent of Police Nihal Thalduwa stated two MPs have been placed in remand custody over the incidents.
SSP Thalduwa said a joint effort by Police Stations, investigative units and Scene of Crime Officers are currently investigating the unrest.
Meanwhile, 2,072 persons have been arrested thus far in connection with the incidents that took place on May 09 while 854 complaints have been received.
During the past 24 hours, 24 persons have been remanded bringing the total number of remanded individuals to 922.
Another 44 suspects have been released on bail.
The Criminal Investigation Department, the Homicide and Organized Crime Investigation Division, and the Computer Crime Investigation Division will conduct further investigations in relation to the incidents that took place on May 09.
