The Sri Lanka Navy has arrested two suspects in Mannar with 7,990 water gel explosives, weighing 998kg.
The 54 and 57-year-old suspects, residents of Mannar, were arrested this morning.
Water gel explosives are used by fishermen for poaching purposes and is considered an illegal act.
A residence was searched by the Navy on suspicion, following which the water gel explosives were recovered.
The Navy and the Mannar Police is conducting further investigations.
