The All Island Three-Wheeler Owners’ Association has condemned the decision to limit the supply of petrol to three-wheelers per pump.
President Lalith Dharmasekera addressing a media briefing in Colombo yesterday said the limitation on fuel has severely inconveniences three-wheeler drivers as they are engaged in the public transport service.
He said the government has reached a decision and is providing fuel to three-wheelers at the rate agreed for motorbikes.
He added they can endure waiting in queues as all citizens are going through the same fate.
However, Dharmasekera condemned the decision to limit the supply of fuel as the three-wheeler industry is a key mode of transport and called for the service to be recognised as an essential service.
He noted that citizens are not at fault for the shortages and claimed that they still understand the developments are also reflective of the situation in the world.
