Parliamentarian Diana Gamage charges trade union leaders of pursuing political interests without considering the inconveniences caused to the public.
MP Gamage commented on the inconvenience caused to the public due to the indefinite trade union action launched by several health unions.
Speaking during a media briefing organised by backbenchers of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, MP Gamage claimed the President of the Government Nursing Officers Association Saman Rathnapriya, and President of the Joint Council for Professions of Supplementary Medicine Ravi Kumudesh are acting with greed.
She charged that they receive salaries and other benefits.
The MP said Rathnapriya during his tenure as a Member of Parliament never spoke on behalf of trade unions.
MP Gamage claimed protests held under the present circumstances by the Samagi Jana Balawegaya led by the Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa were not based on meeting the needs of the public
