The Ceylon Teachers’ Union claims the on-going trade union action staged by teachers and principals across the country has been a success.
The token strike was launched today to highlight the issues faces by the children and teachers due to the prevailing political and economic crisis.
Speaking to NewsRadio, General Secretary Joseph Stalin said they are prepared to intensify the trade union action, if the government is not prepared to step down.
He said people are staging protests across the country owing to price hikes, fuel shortages and other issues.
Joseph Stalin noted that the government instead of resolving the issues faced by the public has been taking measures to strengthen its grip on power.
He stressed that the government should listen to the message resonating from across the country and resign.
