The Sri Lanka Transport Board says it has taken all measures to transport students to schools.
Deputy General Manager of SLTB, Panduka Swarnahansa said with the reopening of government schools, they will deploy all Sisu Seriya buses for the convenience of students.
He said they will give priority to transport students since there is a higher demand for SLTB buses due to the current economic climate.
Panduka Swarnahansa noted that although they are facing certain challenges, providing transport facilities to school children will be their priority.
On a separate note, Deputy General Manager of SLTB Panduka Swarnahansa said they are continuing to provide fuel for vehicles engaged in essential services, private buses and vehicles transporting school children.
He noted fuel stocks are released based on the availability at respective SLTB depots.
The SLTB Deputy General Manager noted that they are releasing fuel to other vehicles after the required amount are retained for SLTB buses.
He said the process is underway from last week and stated that vans transporting school students can also obtain fuel from SLTB depots after presenting necessary documents.
