Authorities have requested parents to train their children to strictly adhere to health guidelines in schools and at home as they are likely to be exposed to the novel coronavirus with the reopening of schools.
President of the Association of Specialist Family Physicians Consultant Family Physician Dr. Malkanthi Galhena said parents should set an example to students by adhering to health guidelines.
Dr. Malkanthi Galhena noted with the reopening of schools, children could be exposed to the virus frequently while infected children could also spread the virus to others in the society.
She said therefore it is important to identify the risks and follow social distancing guidelines and other regulations.
Dr. Malkanthi Galhena also advised students to wear face masks at all times, wash hands regularly, avoid touching their mouth and the face and also to avoid consuming meals in groups.
Dr. Malkanthi Galhena also noted that since dehydration causes several complications, parents should provide their children with adequate liquids.
