The Ceylon Teachers’ Union says the decision pertaining to the commencement of schools on the 21st of October will be announced, if salary anomalies of teachers and principals is not resolved promptly.
Speaking at a media briefing today, Chief Secretary of the Union Joseph Stalin said the trade union struggle will continue during the week ahead.
Teachers and principals trade unions are due to hold discussions with the Secretary to the Ministry of Education today pertaining to salary anomalies.
Taking to social media, Chief Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers Service Union Mahinda Jayasinghe said, trade unions hope to address a number of issues, including the closed service of teachers.
Jayasinghe however said, the trade union action will only end when favourable solutions are provided to their demands.
