The Ministry of Tourism says a conference of Asian Regional Tourism Ministers is in the works.
It will aim to formulate a joint action plan between Asian countries to revive the tourism industry which was battered by the coronavirus pandemic.
The Ministry in a statement said the decision was taken during a discussion between the Bangladesh High Commissioner to Sri Lanka and Minister of Tourism Prasanna Ranatunga.
The Bangladesh High Commissioner said he plans to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries regarding the development of tourism.
He informed that the relevant agreement has been drafted and expects it to be signed in the near future.
Both parties held talks on considering the launch of a passenger ferry service between Colombo and the Bangladesh Capital, Dhaka.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Tourism said it was decided at this discussion to take action over the proposal in future.
