The Department of Meteorology predicts several spells of showers in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces and in the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts today.

The Met Department said showers or thundershowers can be expected in the Uva province and in the Ampara and Batticaloa districts during the afternoon or night.

The general public has meanwhile been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
