The National People’s Power says the country’s political system must be changed and the batton should be handed over to a new generation.
Speaking during the NPP Kegalle district conference, Leader of the party Parliamentarian Anura a Kumara Dissanayake said the time is apt to rid the country of traditional politics.
MP Dissanayake added accordingly the country needs a new political system in place of the outdated system. He noted there is a group that are living luxurious lives by amassing assets through fraud and corruption.
The MP added the country’s politics needs to be steered towards a new generation in place of the failed generation with outdated views.
MP Dissanayake said many things in the country has changed at present adding Secretaries of several Ministries have been promoted to the posts after attending rural schools.
He added entrepreneurs in the private sector have also attended central schools while stating several gifted groups have emerged from central schools including in the judicial system and literature.
The MP stated several sectors have undergone changes, adding however politics has not.
Commenting on the expenses of political groups affiliated with the government at a time the public is burdened.
MP Dissanayake said the President and Ministers are living luxurious lives while the public is suffering.
He noted Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella’s electricity bill was Rs.12 million and questioned if such leaders will build the country.
The MP claimed some Ministers have an electricity bill of Rs.119,000 adding such rulers need to be ashamed.
MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake said Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa received Temple Trees as his official residence while he received another house in Colombo as the former President.
He added Rs.300 million was allocated to renovate the house along and the Prime Minister’s family lives in that house with him.
The MP added former President R Premadasa died in 1993 adding however former First Lady Hema Premadasa to date lives in a house provided by the government.
He claimed former President Maithripala Sirisena was clever and built a house for himself prior to the end of his term.
