The three Police constables who were arrested at Kundasale, Kandy in connection to opening fire at protesters in Rambukkana recently, has been remanded till the 13th of May.
The verdict was issued by Teldeniya Magistrate Granville Fernando, after his inspection visit to the hospital where the officers were being treated.
The Magistrate also ordered the Criminal Investigation Department to direct the three officers to a Judicial Medical Officer to inquire of their health and direct them towards the necessary treatments.
The Magistrate also ordered that the suspects be produced before the Kegalle Magistrates Court on the 13th of May.
Meanwhile, Former Kegalle SSP KB Keerthiratne, who was arrested in connection to the Rambukkana incident, was remanded till the 6th of May.
The order was issued by Colombo Additional Magistrate Shalini Perera yesterday.
A tense situation was reported in Rambukkana on the 19th of April with area residents engaging in protests from morning demanding a steady supply of fuel and against the recent fuel price revision.
Police fired tear gas to disperse protesters and opened fire when they failed to disperse the crowds.
One individual died in the Police gunfire, while several others also sustained injuries.
