The third generator at the Norochcholai Lakvijaya power plant which was added to the national grid yesterday has malfunctioned once again.
When inquired by NewsRadio, Media Spokesperson of the Ceylon Electricity Board Andrew Nawamani said the staff is working to replace the pressure regulating valve in sealing oil pressure line at present.
Yesterday, 160 MW of power was added to the national grid from the third generator of the Norochcholai Lakvijaya Power Plant, which was inactive for weeks.
Another 140 MW of power was due to be added to the national grid shortly.
However, the third generator has malfunctioned once again due to a technical issue.
A 300 MW power generator at the Norochcholai power plant, which adds 900 MW of power to the national grid, had a sudden breakdown on the 3rd of December.
Following the malfunction, the Kelanitissa Diesel Power Plant was supplying the 300 MW of electricity which is usually provided to the national grid by the third generator of the Norochcholai power plant.
