Former Speaker of Parliament Karu Jayasuriya says an opposition cannot exist in Parliament if a national consensus government is formed.
Speaking at an event in Colombo today, the former Speaker said all Members of Parliament must work together under a consensus government.
Jayasuriya said several proposals in this regard have been submitted to the government.
The former Speaker expressed hope that backbenchers in Parliament will be granted opportunities under such a government.
Traders say the prices of broiler chicken and eggs will increase further.
