General Secretary of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya Parliamentarian Ranjith Madduma Bandara says the energy and fuel sectors in Sri Lanka are controlled by the United States and India.

Speaking during a media briefing today, MP Madduma Bandara said the government has deprived citizens of all their rights.

The Parliamentarian said the Consumer Affairs Authority has failed to fulfil its duties, as power cuts are being imposed without prior notice.

He said the Kerawalapitiya Yugadanavi Power Plant has been sold to the US through the agreement to vest 40 percent of shares of the power plant to US firm, New Fortress.

He said the government has no plan to deal with the debt crisis adding they are begging from the international community.

The MP said the present administration obtained a loan of USD 1.5 billion from India and USD 200 million from Bangladesh and have now requested USD 200 million from Pakistan.

MP Madduma Bandara said the country is facing a dire situation as lending institutions have stopped funding Sri Lanka.
