The JVP says the time is not apt to engage in strike action amidst the burdens faced by the public at present.

Speaking to media in Kandy JVP Politburo Member Former Parliamentarian KD Lalkantha said it is more suitable to engage in trade unions struggles while continuing to serve.

Lalkantha claimed a situation beneficial to the government will arise as a result of strike action.

He said the people who are severely burdened and blaming the government will start blaming the strike action instead, if they are unable to obtain services at hospitals.

Lalkantha noted the people will blame health professionals who are on strike and won’t say the government has failed to resolve issues.

He added when the people blame health professionals, the rulers will be there for the people and become their saviour.
