The United National Party has called for a united programme to revitalize economy and save the country.
Assistant Leader of the UNP Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said a new programme is required to safeguard the country and ease the burden of the people.
Speaking to media, former Minister Kariyawasam noted that all sectors in the country have collapsed at present.
He said without proper leadership and direction, the country is heading in the wrong direction.
The UNP Assistant Leader noted that there is no vision for the country at present and the public has lost faith in the current political system.
He said without a collective programme, the country will not be able to survive.
Former Minister Kariyawasam said a programme to formulate policies for economy, education, health, agriculture and foreign affairs must be initiated.
He said all factions irrespective of party affiliations must join hands to formulate a comprehensive programme for the country.
Akila Viraj Kariyawasam added that even if new Presidents and Prime Ministers are appointed without a programme, Sri Lanka will not be able to solve the existing issues and future challenges.
He said therefore in an attempt to unite all factions, they are preparing to stage a satyagraha campaign on the 25th of this month at the Hyde Park grounds.
Assistant Leader of the UNP Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said the campaign will begin at 3pm and extended an open invitation for all factions to attend the event.
