Parliamentarian Thalatha Athukorala says the 2022 Budget has no substance.
Speaking in Parliament today, during the debate on the second reading of the 2022 Budget, MP Athukorala said despite making a huge noise, Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa through his maiden budget has not provided any meaningful solutions to the issues faced by the people.
MP Athukorala stressed that the public was expecting a price control mechanism, relief for electricity tariffs and solutions to the fuel crisis through the budget.
She said however, Minister Rajapaksa has not addressed any of the issues the people and the country are facing at present.
MP Thalatha Athukorala also noted that while increasing the retirement age of state sector workers, the Finance Minister had claimed that the state service is a burden on the country.
She said such statements or actions will not help the country progress.
