The opposition says the government will not be able to silence the general public through temporary solutions provided by the 11 parties affiliated to the present administration.
Speaking during a media briefing in Colombo today, Parliamentarian Manusha Nanayakkara said the entire government should be sent home and a professional who can run the country must take over the reins.
MP Nanayakkara noted that the protestors will not be satisfied with mere temporary solutions.
He said citizens are calling for the resignation of the entire government while they are also demanding the seizure of all properties that were misappropriated from state coffers.
The Parliamentarian said by shutting the country through curfews and emergency regulations, issues cannot be addressed.
MP Manusha Nanayakkara noted that short-term solutions must be given to current financial issues.
He said if not, protests will increase further in the next few days.
MP Nanayakkara added that if those in the government fail to resign immediately, then citizens will take matters into their own hands and send them home.
