The Teacher-Principal Trade Union Alliance says it has decided to stage a protest in Colombo next Tuesday, and on the day the government budget will be presented.
General Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers’ Service Union Mahinda Jayasinghe commented that the protest will be held with the participation of teachers and principals island-wide, demanding solutions to salary anomalies through the budget.
Jayasinghe called on teachers and their supporters to be in Colombo and protest on the day of the budget to resolve these issues.
Meanwhile, teachers-principal trade union representatives are currently protesting against the recent incident where several local politicians visited the Mederigama Maha Vidyalaya in Mawanella and threatened teachers and parents of the school.
The protest is underway opposite the school.
