Several teacher principal trade unions have held discussions with the Minister of Education pertaining to unresolved issues.
Trade unions informed Minister Susil Premajayantha that teachers and principals are facing numerous issues in attending school.
Speaking to NewsRadio after the discussions Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers’ Union Joseph Stalin said the government and the Ministry failed to provide solutions.
Stalin said the unions discussed and tabled proposals that can be enforced by the government and the Ministry of Education, adding that they aren’t hopeful of these measures being fulfilled.
He added the recommendations of the Ministerial sub-committee have not been implemented to date despite promises of fulfilling teacher principal issues within six months.
Stalin said the Minister vowed to address their grievances within the next three months.
He also questioned how the education industry can sustain amidst government inefficiencies.
