Today marks the 85th day since teachers and principals launched a protest campaign over salary anomalies.
Teacher unions have continuously charged the government of failing to take steps to resolve their concerns.
Taking to social media Chief Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers Service Union Mahinda Jayasinghe requested the government to reach a favourable decision regarding issues faced by teachers and principals during the Cabinet of Ministers meeting due to be held this evening.
Jayasinghe said union leaders are not pleased of the number of days that have lapsed since the trade union action was launched, adding that they are only highlighting the matter to authorities.
He claimed authorities must take responsibility for the struggle extending to a long period of time.
Jayasinghe added unions are prepared to enter discussions with authorities at any given time.
