Parliamentarian Mahindananda Aluthgamage claims discussions are currently underway with several countries to obtain fuel.
Speaking at a media briefing at the Government Information Department today, the MP said the President is preparing to leave for the United Arab Emirates to hold talks on importing fuel.
MP Aluthgamage said the government and the Ministry of Energy are engaged in discussions to secure a continuous supply of fuel from the 10th of July.
He added the President has held diplomatic talks with Russian officials and has written to Russian President Vladimir Putin in order to obtain fuel while further discussions are underway.
MP Aluthgamage said Sri Lanka and India are also in talks to obtain fuel in the near future.
