The suspect who set fire to an Army bus during the unrest in Mirihana on the 31st of March, has been arrested by Criminal Investigation Department.
The incident was reported opposite the road leading to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s private residence down Pengiriwatte Road.
The suspect was arrested in Deraniyagala.
The 42 year old suspect is employed at a private spare part shop in Wijerama.
He is expected to be produced before Court today.
Protesters gathered on top of Pengiriwatte Road in a show of dissent against the President and the government on the 31st of March.
Protesters were unrelenting breaking walls and using bricks to hurl them at a Sri Lanka Army bus that was later set on fire.
The bus was parked, blocking the entrance to the Pengiriwatte Road.
The attack on the Sri Lanka Army bus resulted in several other vehicles nearby being damaged.
