Parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayasekara alleges that the frequent transfers of heads of key health related institutions and the failure to make permanent appointments are problematic.
Speaking during the adjournment debate on the country’s health situation in Parliament yesterday, MP Jayasekara said appointments to the National Medicines Regulatory Authority have not been by following due protocols.
He said although interviews were held to select a new Chief Executive Officer to the NMRA, only an acting appointment has been made.
MP Jayasekara said similar issues have arisen at the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation.
He said such acting appointments have destroyed the supply chain.
MP Jayasekara said they will extend their support to address these matters and therefore requested the subject Minister to take steps promptly.
