The Ministry of Energy claims there are sufficient stocks of fuel for regular consumption for the next week.
Speaking during a media briefing in Colombo, the Ministry’s Media Spokesman Chaminda Hettiarachchi said there was no need for the public to create an undue fear over fuel.
Hettiarachchi said the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation is selling fuel at a great loss adding the CPC will not be able to maintain the prices.
He said no decision was reached to increase prices of fuel considering the public.
The Media Spokesman said the CPC will work towards efficiently providing fuel to the markets, considering the additional customers due to Lanka IOC increasing fuel prices.
Hettiarachchi urged the public to use fuel in a mindful manner while contributing to the management of fuel stocks
