Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa says the struggle to release former Parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake with all democratic rights, will resume with renewed effort this year.
Speaking to media after visiting Ranjan Ramanayake at the Welikada Prison this morning, the Opposition Leader reiterated that the Samagi Jana Balawegaya is fully committed to the cause.
MP Premadasa said although he had requested the President to grant a Presidential pardon to Ranjan Ramanayake on several occasions and received favourable verbal responses on several occasions, it had not yet been granted.
He said the situation faced by the former MP is regretful adding a humanitarian like Ranjan Ramanayake does not deserve a prison cell.
