President Gotabaya Rajapaksa says the strike actions are politically motivated to aggravate the economic crisis.
The President said this must be understood in order to ensure that operations of institutions are not affected.
The President engaged in a discussion with representatives of trade unions at the President’s House last evening.
The President highlighted the need to resort to new methods and move away from political divisions to overcome the economic crisis.
President Rajapaksa expressed his gratitude to the workers who performed their duties despite the strike on the 28th of April and requested all unions to understand the current situation and provide necessary assistance to carry on day to day operations.
