The Frontline Socialist Party has ridiculed the arrest of citizens in relation to the violent acts that were reported on the 9th of May.

Educational Secretary Pubudu Jagoda said individuals who instigated violence opposite the Temple Trees must be arrested prior to the arrest of a Municipal Councillor.

Jagoda added former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, Parliamentarians Johnston Fernando and Sanath Nishantha, including Pradeshiya Sabha members and Provincial Councillors representing the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna escorted thugs to engage in violence.

He claimed it is futile to arrest citizens first adding that those who orchestrated and instigated the violence must be apprehended. He further added 250 ordinary citizens have thus far been arrested over the unrest.

Pubuda Jagoda further urged the government to refrain from enforcing curfew and continuing the State of Emergency, adding that such developments are moves to intimidate and instil fear among the public.
