The Samagi Jana Balawegaya says efforts are underway to inflict fear in society under the guise of the State of Emergency.

Parliamentarian Mujibur Rahman speaking at a media briefing said the State of Emergency is being used to crackdown and arrest individuals, who engaged in protests.

He charged that these groups are being suppressed through the use of officers of the Criminal Investigation Department.

MP Rahman said those part of the uprising on the 9th of July are being identified through photographs while individuals who gave leadership to the protests are also being identified.

MP Rahman said MPs should have been true to their conscious when casting their vote in Parliament in favour of the State of Emergency.
