The Railway Station Masters’ Association says Sri Lanka Railways is purposely postponing the process of updating train schedules.
Speaking to NewsRadio, Chairman of the Association Sumedha Somaratne said Sri Lanka Railways has cancelled several intercity express trains with immediate effect.
Accordingly, Somaratne said the Seedevi intercity express train plying from Colombo, Fort to Kankesanthurai at 3:55 pm and the night mail train to Badulla was cancelled.
He said they previously engaged in trade union action in order to address internal administration issues within the Railway Department in order to ensure they heed proposals by Station Masters.
Somaratne noted they halted trade union action and observed that the Department continues to ignore their pledges.
He claimed that Sri Lanka Railways abruptly cancelled trains, resulting in commuters engaging in disputes with Station Masters over the inconvenience.
