The Samagi Jana Balawegaya says Sri Lanka will experience in future, what Lebanon is experiencing today.
Speaking in Parliament, SJB MP Harsha de Silva said 50% of doctors in the country have already left hospitals.
He recalled that there was friction between the Lebanese government and parliament on making a decision to seek assistance from the International Monetary Fund.
He said the same situation is prevalent in Sri Lanka where a group is expressing willingness to go to the IMF, and others are not.
He stressed that there was no point talking about what could have been done and therefore urged Parliament to look to the future.
MP de Silva claimed that the government has failed in its duty, since Minister Ali Sabry also acknowledged they could have gone to the IMF beforehand.
He requested the President to also support efforts to resolve the economic crisis.
